New World Beginnings: Case 4

Below are the first wine books published by Americans: Adlum, Dufour and Loubat.

Loubat, originally from France, in a burst of patriotic enthusiasm dedicates his book to the shade of Benjamin Franklin.

About the same time, his ex-countrymen, Napoleon’s defeated soldiers, receive a large tract of land in Alabama.  They were to cultivate the vine and the olive.  They fail.
