The Hollis Evangelical Sabbath School Society Record Book contains this Framingham, Massachusetts, organization’s constitution and articles of organization (April 6, 1852), a record of their meetings, annual reports, and the closing of their society on March 31, 1872. The society was established to raise funds for the benefit of the Sunday School’s library, voted on books to add to the library, brought in speakers (such as Dr. Rev. Peter Parker), and supported other efforts such as tuition assistance/support, school concerts and events, and at least one Civil War soldiers’ library. On December 13, 1863, the school pledged to raise $30 per year to support Alexander John of the Seneca tribe of New York in pursuit of college preparation.
