A Geographical Present: Being Descriptions of Several of the Countries in Europe (New York: William Burgess' Juvenile Emporium, 1830)
Adopted by Kathleen Beck
This children’s book offers descriptions of various countries in Europe, with a focus on traditional clothing characteristic of the different nations. These illustrations have been hand-colored, although it’s not clear if the coloring was done before purchase or by an early owner. It is interesting for having been sold from William Burgess’ Juvenile Emporium, one of the earliest American bookstores to specialize in books for children.
