Thomas Gilbert White was born in Grand Haven in 1877 and is known primarily as a mural artist. He studied in New York and Paris, France. His work appears in the state capitols of Kentucky, Oklahoma, and Utah. As an easel painter, he worked in an impressionistic style. He died in Paris in 1939.
